Qingfengshan Fm
Type Locality and Naming
The type section is located in the Donggou Mt., Aoji Country, Aohan Banner to the south of the West Mulun River, Inner Mongolia, and the reference section is located in the South Hills, Guangyi County, Keshiketeng Banner. It was named by the 2nd Regional Geological Survey Party of Inner Mongolia in 1967.
Lithology and Thickness
Sandstone and Volcanics. Composed mainly of clastic rocks, intercalated with a small amount of volcanic rocks. Lower part is composed of variegated quartz-sandstone, intercalated with slate, with its base consisting of a layer of pebbled sandstone or conglomerate. Middle part is composed of grey-green metamorphosed andesitic porphyrite, grey-white dacite and intermediate tuffaceous lava, intercalated with slate, greywacke and a small amount of acidic tuff. Upper part is composed of grey-green and grey-yellow greywacke, slate and limestone, intercalated with thin-bedded tuff and metamorphosed basalt. Thickness is over 1013 m.

Lower contact
Conformable contact with the underlying Jiujuzi Fm
Upper contact
Conformable contact with the overlying Yujiabeigou Fm
Regional extent
Distributed in the areas of Qingfeng Mt., Shajingou and Labagao in the central and western parts of the Aohan Banner, as well as in the areas of the South Hills of the Guangyi County and other places in the Keshiketeng Banner. Westerly the amount of volcanic interbeds in the formation is reducing.
